Caitlin McCourt
Caitlin did not have an easy life before fat-camp. Her whole life, she was turned away, countless times. She missed out on the love from her family, her mother, and from the friends she never had. So, when she was offered the opportunity to be the girlfriend of the most popular boy at Key Biscayne, of course she leaped at it. All she wanted was to be loved, to feel acceptance and understanding from another person. After being abused by Nick, several times, she would always accept the apology and gifts, and then return to his side. She thought that being loved by Nick was worth being hurt, and that it was better than to return to being a loner. By the end, when she learns that there are other, better fish in the sea, she understands that it will be okay to let go, because the love from her new friends is enough to sustain her thirst for attention. That's why it was better for her to leave Nick, and Key Biscayne for good.
